The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for providing member medication counseling and assistance to minimize gaps in treatment by collaborating with various teams across Healthfirst and with community partners such as pharmacists and providers.

Duties & Responsibilities
  1. Review medication lists to understand and eliminate barriers to therapy, serving as the member's Pharmacy Navigator to achieve proper medication adherence, minimize gaps, and prevent adverse events.
  2. Facilitate member access to medications by obtaining refills, facilitating new prescriptions, setting appointments, assisting with financial issues, aligning refills, documenting care, and communicating with providers.
  3. Partner with Pharmacists and other stakeholders to communicate treatment plans and coordinate MTM interventions within healthcare management services.
  4. Collaborate with community pharmacies to monitor and communicate medication adherence.
  5. Perform patient health assessments to identify barriers to adherence related to medications, patient factors, or access to care.
  6. Handle member and provider communications via telephone; in some cases, in person.
  7. Perform additional duties as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
  • Experience requiring clear, professional written and verbal communication.
  • Experience communicating with patients, providers, and pharmacists about medication issues.
  • Nationally certified Pharmacy Technician (PTCB, NHA) or registered/licensed Pharmacy Technician in good standing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual skills.
  • Medication Therapy Management Certificate.
