Job summary

Clark County is seeking a Community Health Worker (CHW) to provide in-person harm reduction services and outreach in the STI HIV Prevention and Harm Reduction Program. The role involves staffing the Harm Reduction Syringe Services Program and engaging with community and clinic operations at the Harm Reduction Center and other sites.

The CHW will work under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and Program Manager, typically 8 hour days Monday through Friday, with a potential hybrid/remote

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus two years of experience, training, or community experience in counseling or health outreach.
• Fluency in English and possibly another community language may be required.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrates proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Smartsheet for forms, data entry, and reports.
• Provides courteous customer service to providers, clients, and the public.
• Assists clients in accessing services through referrals to psychosocial support, substance use treatment, health insurance enrollment, and medical services.
• Supports Syringe Services Program with intake, counseling, referrals, and sharps management.
• Participates in overdose prevention training and community outreach events.
• Supports STI HIV clinical services including check-in, registration, specimen handling, and other duties.
• Packages and ships specimens per shipping requirements.
• Contributes to outreach planning and program evaluations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
