Prolific is seeking Chemistry Experts and Chemical Engineers to join our Expert Network to help train and evaluate AI models using real-world chemical expertise. Eligible participants will take a short test and, if successful, join Prolific as a paid participant with the ability to work from home.

Researchers paying for your skills can be up to $60 per hour, with tasks typically requiring about an hour of uninterrupted work, though many are shorter.

Qualifications

• Education: a BS, MS, or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, or a related Physical Science field.
• Professional Experience: experience in laboratory research, industrial chemical processing, pharmaceutical R&D, or academic instruction.
• Technical Mastery: deep knowledge of organic, inorganic, analytical, or physical chemistry principles and reaction mechanisms.
• Safety & Compliance: understanding of chemical safety protocols (SDS), GHS standards, and regulatory requirements (EPA, REACH, FDA).
• Analytical Precision: identify errors in IUPAC nomenclature, stoichiometry, molecular geometry, and thermodynamics.
• Communication: explain intricate reaction pathways or molecular interactions in clear, technically accurate language.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate AI-Generated Chemistry: review model responses for factual accuracy, structural integrity, and reasoning.
• Fact-Check Reactions & Formulas: validate reactions, balancing equations, and viable synthetic routes.
• Audit Technical Documentation: review lab protocols, safety summaries, and spectral interpretations (NMR, IR, Mass Spec).
• Annotate Molecular Data: identify and correct errors in SMILES, 2D/3D representations, and property predictions.
• Safety Monitoring: ensure AI outputs do not provide instructions for hazardous or illicit substances.
