Job summary

Allina Health is seeking a Charge Capture professional to review clinical documentation and accurately assess and enter charges for Emergency, Outpatient, and Observation services. You will use medical software to capture all billable charges and identify inconsistencies for correction in collaboration with leadership and operations staff.

The role requires 2–5 years in health care billing, a related education path, and AHIMA certification preferred.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years of experience working in health care insurance, billing, and charging.
• Must be 18 years of age with education and/or experience to meet required functional competencies as listed on the job description.
• Remote position; must reside within commuting distance of United Hospital, Saint Paul, MN

Responsibilities

• Ensures charges captured in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Reviews, calculates, and enters charges in the electronic medical record (EMR).
• Examines financial reports for accuracy edits.
• Processes and completes charge entry.
• Monitors and audits charts.
• Verifies insurance eligibility and completes automated insurance eligibility verification, when applicable and appropriately documents information in Epic.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Associate's or Vocational degree in business, healthcare, or related field

Certified Coding Specialist - AHIMA preferred upon hire
