Job summary

Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance (TOA) is hiring a Certified Coder to support accurate coding and documentation across our orthopaedic services. The role involves reviewing records, assigning CPT-4/ICD-10/HCPCS codes, and ensuring documentation aligns with policies for professional services.

The candidate should reside in Middle Tennessee (Columbia or Knoxville areas preferable) with at least 1 year of experience and CPC or CCS-P certification.

Qualifications

• Must reside in the Middle TN, Columbia, or Knoxville area.
• Minimum of 1 year experience.
• CPC or CCS-P certified.
• Good working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management, ensuring charges are coded and documented per coding policies.
• Review and abstract patient records to assign diagnoses, treatments, and procedures for professional services.
• Ensure services documented are coded with appropriate diagnoses and procedure codes.
• Utilize query process when services are not documented appropriately.
• Enter codes into practice management system and rectify errors in editing systems.
• Provide education to providers regarding results of periodic audits with professionalism.
• Maintain knowledge of CPT-4, ICD-10, HCPCS coding principles, modifier usage, medical terminology, governmental regulations, protocols and payer requirements.
• Maintain a daily average set by supervisor/management.
