Ninety plus years later we are advancing the practice of orthopaedic surgery throughout the state. The Certified Coder assists in the delivery of primary health care and patient care management, ensuring that charges are coded and consistent with documentation

Qualifications

• Must reside in the Middle TN, Columbia, or Knoxville area.
• Minimum 1 year experience in medical coding.
• CPC or CCS-P certification required.
• Good working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering primary health care and patient care management, ensuring codes match documentation.
• Review and abstract patient records to assign diagnoses, treatments, and procedures.
• Ensure services documented are coded with correct diagnoses and procedure codes.
• Utilize query process when documentation is inadequate.
• Enter codes into the practice management system and fix errors in editors.
• Educate providers about audit results with professionalism.
• Stay current with CPT-4, ICD-10, HCPCS, modifiers, terminology and payer rules.
• Maintain a daily average set by supervisor.
