Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking a Certified Coding Specialist II for remote work (Texas resident). You will code complex ambulatory surgery and other visit records, using ICD-10-CM and CPT with adherence to Medicare/Medicaid rules.

Requires CCS or CPC with 1 year of current ambulatory coding experience; RHIA/RHIT preferred. Strong attention to detail and communication with physicians is essential for accuracy and timely coding.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma is required.
• CCS or CPC certification with 1 year of ambulatory coding experience required.
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 coding and Medicare/Medicaid rules.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrates coding knowledge and critical thinking in policy adherence.

Responsibilities

• Review and interpret patient records to assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes.
• Code ambulatory surgery, evaluation & management, and related visits accurately.
• Collaborate with physicians and departments on documentation needs.
• Stay current with coding guidelines and changes in regulations.
• Communicate documentation requirements clearly to providers.
