Job summary

Cook Children's Health Care System is seeking a Certified Coding Specialist II for a fully remote Texas-resident role. You will review medical records, assign ICD-10-CM and CPT codes, and ensure compliance with Medicare/Medicaid guidelines. The role focuses on ambulatory surgery and mixed E/M records, with collaboration across departments.

Required CCS or CPC with at least 1 year of current ambulatory coding experience. RHIA/RHIT preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma.
• CCS or CPC certification with 1 year current ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 ambulatory coding experience.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and disease processes.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Detail-oriented with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrates coding proficiency via on-site evaluation before hire.
• RHIA/RHIT preferred.
• Experience with EMR, automated encoders and related software.

Responsibilities

• Code ambulatory surgery and E/M records with ICD-10-CM & CPT-4.
• Assign codes accurately and timely to physician documentation.
• Collaborate with physicians and departments on documentation needs.
• Maintain current coding knowledge and guidelines.
