Job summary

Cook Children’s Health Care System is seeking a Certified Coding Specialist II for a fully remote role based in Texas. The coder will apply ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 coding to ambulatory surgery, ED, clinic visits and related records, ensuring accuracy and timeliness per Medicare/Medicaid guidelines.

The role requires CCS or CPC certification with experience in ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and E/M coding, plus strong knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy. RHIA/RHIT preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires CCS or CPC with 1 year minimum current and continuous full-time ICD-10-CM & CPT-4 ambulatory surgery and E/M coding.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology and the disease process.
• Detail-oriented, organized with interpersonal and communication skills.
• Coding knowledge and proficiency demonstrated through on-site evaluation prior to hire.

Responsibilities

• Code ambulatory surgery, outpatient and ER records with ICD-10-CM, CPT-4, and E/M guidelines.
• Communicate with physicians and providers to clarify documentation requirements.
• Collaborate with departments to ensure accurate coding and documentation compliance.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding rules and guidelines.
