Job summary

UnitedHealth Group is seeking a Clinical Document Improvement Specialist Manager to oversee CDI programs and implement CDI processes for inpatient records across Optum 360 clients. The role ensures technical accuracy and completeness of documentation while collaborating with CDI Director, providers, and HIM teams.

The position involves travel to client locations (30-40%) and allows remote work from anywhere in the U.S.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of acute care hospital RN experience or medical graduate with CDI experience and CDI certification.
• 2+ years’ experience communicating and presenting to physicians.
• Proficiency using a PC in Windows with Word, Excel, PowerPoint and EMR.

Responsibilities

• Conducts chart audits, quality audits and KPI audits.
• Oversees CDI staff training and orientation; runs CDI workflow and reports.
• Lead CDI staff performance and professional development; travel to client sites as needed.
• Ensure inpatient records are reviewed within 24–48 hours and documentation supports accurate codes.
