Qualifications

• MD or MBBS required for qualification.
• Active US RN license with 5+ years acute care hospital experience.
• Current CCDS/CDIP/CCS certification or willingness to obtain within 1 year.
• 2+ years CDI experience in an acute care hospital setting.
• Advanced proficiency in clinical medicine, pathophysiology, and pharmacology.
• Proficient with Windows, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and EMR systems.
• Ability to work Pacific Time Zone business hours, in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Review inpatient clinical records within 24-48 hours and identify gaps for accurate code assignment.
• Conduct daily follow-up with providers to obtain documentation specificity.
• Lead overall clinical documentation improvement with substantiated recommendations.
• Communicate with providers at all levels about diagnoses based on illness severity and mortality risk.
• Provide timely feedback on opportunities for improvement and successes.
• Ensure effective use of CDI software to document all clarification activity.
• Develop reciprocal relationships with HIM Coding Professionals.
• Consult with Physician Advisor/VPMA to resolve provider issues in the CDI process.
