Job summary

National General is seeking a Catastrophe Inside Adjuster to work remotely from home across the U.S. You will investigate, negotiate, and settle moderately to complex homeowner claims, including contents and ALE, using virtual tools.

The role requires 5+ years in property claims, knowledge of dwelling coverages with UPP/ALE, and experience with Xactimate. Training is provided and licensing costs are covered.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of property insurance claims handling experience.
• 2+ years of experience specifically related to Fire, Water, and Theft claims for Contents and ALE.
• Strong knowledge of dwelling coverages, including UPP and ALE, with end-to-end claim processes—writing estimates, managing supplements, and finalizing claims.
• Experience using Xactimate or similar estimating software for complex contents estimating.
• Able to work Central Standard Time hours.

Responsibilities

• Handle claims virtually from home.
• Handle escalated, complex claims involving contents, structure supplements, and/or additional living expense (ALE) damages.
• Conduct thorough coverage investigations to ensure correct policy application.
• Collaborate virtually with onsite vendors via advanced video technology to assess damages and prepare contents estimates.
• Provide empathetic, customer-focused communication throughout the claims process.
• Negotiate settlements in accordance with company standards.
• Coordinate with structure adjusters for comprehensive claim handling.
• Use data and analytics to support decision-making.
• This role involves taking care of customers in their times of need; you must be willing to work some weekends and extended hours if necessary.
