Job summary

Optum is seeking a professional coder to assign diagnosis and procedure codes for non-invasive cardiology procedures. You will ensure documentation supports billing, apply relevant CPT/ICD-10-CM codes, and work through denials and audits while maintaining productivity and quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required.
• Professional coder certification with AHIMA and/or AAPC (CPC-A, RHIT, RHIA, CCA, CPC, COC, CPC-P, CCS) maintained annually.
• 2+ years of ICD-10 and CPT coding experience with a cardiology focus.
• 2+ years of Windows PC experience including MS Excel and EMR systems.

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation and medical records to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes.
• Abstract and code professional fee services for non-invasive cardiology procedures (stress testing, stress echocardiography, TTE, TEE).
• Apply CPT, ICD-10-CM, HCPCS, and modifiers per guidelines and payer requirements.
• Ensure documentation supports billed procedures and correct any deficiencies with providers.
• Work coding edits, claim denials, and audit findings to support accurate reimbursement.
• Maintain productivity and quality standards per the organization.
