Job summary

UnitedHealth Group's Optum unit is seeking a professional coder to join our remote team. You will apply ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS coding to ancillary facility encounters and ensure documentation supports codes while meeting quality standards.

This role requires AHIMA or AAPC credentials, 1+ year of ancillary and ICD-10 experience, and familiarity with NCCI/MUE. You can telecommute from anywhere in the U.S., with competitive pay and comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• AHIMA or AAPC credential (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H) is required.
• 1+ years of Ancillary coding experience.
• 1+ years of ICD-10 experience.
• Familiarity with NCCI and Medically Unlikely Edits (MUE) basics and facility modifier awareness.

Responsibilities

• Codes ancillary facility encounters (clinic, recurring accounts, lab, therapy, radiology).
• Ensures documentation supports code selection and resolves APC impacts.
• Applies ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes.
• Meets established quality and productivity standards in a production environment.
