Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Certification in AAPC and/or AHIMA within 12 months of hire; CPC-A acceptable.
• Clinical background and/or medical coding education required for entry-level coding.
• Basic knowledge of coding principles, anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
• Familiarity with claim system edits and modifier assignment.

Responsibilities

• Review provider documentation to ensure accurate procedural and diagnosis coding, including verification of dates, provider information, and coding accuracy.
• Process charges within 24-48 hours of clinic completion while maintaining a minimum 95% accuracy rate and adhering to production standards.
• Perform various assignments under the direction of the Coding Services Manager/Supervisor, including reconciliation of charges in the billing system.
