Job summary

Davies North America seeks an Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day management of captive insurance clients and lead a small team. Remote role, based in Vermont, Williston region, with state compliance.

You will present financial statements, coordinate with auditors and regulators, and ensure GAAP-based reporting across multiple systems, including QuickBooks and Gain. Requires CPA preferred and 3–10 years of related experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3–10 years of experience in similar duties.
• Associate in Captive Insurance or similar designation.
• Knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles.
• Accounting research capability.
• CPA designation preferred.
• Initiative and good judgment with low error rate.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Provide advice on compliance requirements, investment regulations and current accounting developments that affect clients.
• Give presentations at client, shareholder, and/or Board of Director meetings to review financial information. Prepare and/or review monthly financial statement package and management review for a group of captive clients, in accordance with GAAP, IFRS, SAP and modified GAAP.
• Perform all accounting necessary for maintaining captive clients, including preparing and/or reviewing all general ledgers, reconciliation and customized financial and managerial reports.
• Responsible for following established guidelines, checklists and procedures, ensuring that managed companies remain compliant and internal controls are followed.
• Training, oversight and development of teammates.
• Work with all service providers including but not limited to auditors, actuaries, tax authorities, regulators, investment professionals, lawyers, TPAs and bankers; acting as client point person to organize and coordinate all matters to effectively manage the captive clients. Prepare and/or review regulatory filings, premium tax returns and NAIC filings.
• Responsible or substantive audit review and compliance testing, involving drafting and reviewing of audit reports.
• Monitor cash flow, prepare budgets and ad hoc reports. Work with multiple accounting systems, including QuickBooks and Gain to prepare financial statements in accordance appropriate accounting basis.
• Maintain appropriate level of confidentiality of information processed.
• Follow all company policies and procedures.
• Maintain up to date knowledge of accounting, insurance and regulatory issues affecting captives.
• Other duties as assigned.
