Job summary

Davies is seeking a Captive Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day management of a growing portfolio of captive insurance clients from Williston, Vermont. The role is remote, but Vermont-based candidates are required by state law.

You will act as the primary contact with senior management and clients, prepare and present GAAP/IFRS-compliant financial statements, and mentor staff while coordinating with auditors, actuaries, tax authorities and regulators to manage regulatory filings and reports.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
• 3-10 years experience in position with similar duties
• Achievement of Associate in Captive Insurance or similar designation
• Up to date knowledge of GAAP and insurance accounting principles
• Accounting research capability
• CPA designation preferred
• Ability to use initiative and good judgment in accomplishing tasks with minimal errors.
• Excellent listening, interpersonal and customer service skills.
• Proficiency in use of personal computers, including data entry, word processing and spread sheet applications (Microsoft Office applications).

Responsibilities

• Provide advice on compliance requirements and investment regulations that affect clients
• Present financial statements at client, shareholder, and Board meetings; prepare monthly financial statements for captive clients
• Perform all accounting for maintaining captive clients; prepare and review ledgers, reconciliations, and reports
• Follow established guidelines and internal controls to ensure compliance
• Train, oversee and develop teammates
• Coordinate with auditors, actuaries, tax authorities, regulators, and other service providers; prepare regulatory filings
• Conduct audit reviews and compliance testing; draft audit reports
• Monitor cash flow; prepare budgets and ad hoc reports; work with QuickBooks and Gain for financial statements
