Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least one year in a commercial kitchen or vocational training demonstrating cleaning and food prep knowledge.
• At least one year in commercial housekeeping.
• Must have or obtain Alaska Food Workers Card/ServSafe upon hire.
• Must pass pre-employment tests (drug, physical, fit-for-duty, hearing). Travel to testing facility may be required.
• Ability to cooperate as part of a team and work with little supervision.
• Stand for 12 hours per shift and live in dormitory-style settings.
• English speaking, reading and writing required; follow safety guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Assists cooks and coordinates activities within a food service area.
• Prepare food and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Maintain product levels in prep, serving, or storage areas.
• Stock various food service areas with products and materials.
• Clean dishes and utensils; store items in organized areas.
• Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Clean, sweep, wipe, and maintain dining, kitchen, and storage areas.
• Remove garbage from assigned areas.
• Use appropriate cleaning solutions and equipment for tasks.
• Set up, break down, and clean tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines.
• Perform very light facility maintenance as needed.
• Assist with scheduled large cleaning projects and laundry duties.
• Clean, sweep, vacuums, mop, and restock hallways and restrooms.
• Sweeps/mops floors; dusts high and low areas; notify supervisor on safety issues.
• Travel to remote camps as required; comply with safety and sanitation standards.
