Job summary

Mercor seeks a Mechanical & CAD Engineer to perform real mechanical design and CAD tasks for AI model training. This remote contract role requires 10–20 hours per week and MacBook ownership.

Work with Mac-compatible CAD tools (Fusion 360, Onshape, Shapr3D, FreeCAD) on macOS 15+ and narrate engineering decisions clearly to support AI research. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of experience or are pursuing a Master’s in Mechanical Engineering and possess strong written and verbal communication

Qualifications

2–3 years of experience or current pursuit of a Master's in Mechanical Engineering.
Proficiency in Mac-compatible CAD tools (Fusion 360, Onshape, Shapr3D, FreeCAD).
Own a MacBook or Mac with an Apple M-series chip or Intel processor, running macOS 15 or higher.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

Complete and narrate real mechanical design and CAD tasks on your Mac to create high-quality training data for advanced AI models.
Evaluate and improve AI model performance through structured engineering workflows.
Provide clear explanations of engineering decisions to enhance model reasoning.
Work independently with flexible hours to meet project deadlines.
Collaborate asynchronously to support AI research objectives.
