Job summary

GovCIO is seeking an experienced C# / ASP.NET Application Engineer to maintain and enhance a SQL Server backed web application, with SSIS packages, Active Directory integration, and IIS configuration. This fully remote role is nationwide within the United States.

You will design and optimize relational databases, write efficient T-SQL, deploy SSIS packages, manage SQL Server Agent jobs, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver secure, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering; 12+ years of experience or commensurate professional experience.
• Strong C# and ASP.NET experience.
• Solid T-SQL skills and SQL Server administration knowledge.
• Hands-on SSIS development and troubleshooting.
• Experience with Active Directory and Windows Authentication; read/write to AD.
• SQL Server Agent job management.
• Familiarity with IIS administration.
• Git-based development workflow.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and improve ASP.NET (MVC/Web API/Web Forms) applications, ensuring seamless integration between front-end and back-end components
• Support SQL Server databases: queries, indexing, performance tuning
• Update and deploy SSIS packages
• Manage SQL Server Agent jobs and troubleshoot failures
• Design, query, and manage relational databases (SQL Server), including writing efficient T‑SQL, stored procedures
• Configure and support AD authentication and IIS settings
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and debug issues across the full application stack, from the UI down to the database and server layers
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including database administrators, system administrators, and security teams to design new features and troubleshoot issues
• Maintain documentation and follow secure coding practices
• Write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code following .NET coding standards and object-oriented design principles
• Optimize data models and database architectures to enhance performance and scalability
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to overall code quality and adherence to .NET best practices
• Stay current with updates to the .NET framework and the broader Microsoft development ecosystem, recommending improvements where relevant
