Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Remote Business and Real Estate Litigation Attorney based in El Segundo, CA, with the option for remote work and permanent status. The role requires handling 20–30 litigation matters, drafting pleadings, taking depositions, and managing discovery, with a 1,500-hour annual billable target.

Applicants must be admitted to the California Bar with at least 5 years of litigation experience and demonstrate strong client communication skills.

Qualifications

• Active California Bar license in good standing.
• Minimum of 5 years of litigation experience.
• Experience taking and defending depositions, attending hearings, and handling mediations.
• Comfort appearing in court independently.
• Proven ability to manage cases from start to finish with minimal hand holding.
• Strong client communication skills, especially with business owners and families in high stakes disputes.
• Proficiency with Westlaw, Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and Adobe.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of 20 to 30 litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Draft complaints, motions, pleadings, and other litigation documents.
• Take and defend depositions.
• Attend court appearances, hearings, and mediations.
• Conduct legal research, manage discovery, and build litigation strategy.
• Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients.
• Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, keeping them informed on strategy, risk, and next steps.
• Work closely with overseeing partner and paralegal to keep cases moving.
• Handle a broad mix of business disputes including breach of contract, partnership disputes, noncompete, employment claims, IP infringement, bad faith, and class actions.
• Maintain an annual billable hour requirement of 1,500.
