Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Casual / Part Time Business Analyst with strong application testing expertise to support a mission-critical CAD system for a large public safety agency. The role requires analyzing requirements, managing the backlog, and conducting testing in a 24x7 operational environment to ensure reliability and continuity.

Candidates local to the New York City area are preferred, but remote work is possible for non-locals. Limited travel may be required to support program activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of experience, Master’s with 6, or High School diploma with 12 years.
• U.S. Citizen or lawful permanent resident (Green Card holder) authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship.
• 5+ years of Business Analyst experience in enterprise or mission-critical IT environments.
• 3+ years of hands-on application testing experience (functional, regression, UAT).
• Strong experience with requirements documentation including BRDs, use cases, user stories, and traceability matrices.
• Experience supporting production applications in a high-availability or 24x7 environment.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and requirements management tools (e.g., JIRA, ServiceNow, Azure DevOps, or similar).

Responsibilities

• Gather, analyze, and document business and system requirements with stakeholders.
• Translate operational needs into detailed functional and technical requirements.
• Facilitate workshops to define defects, enhancements, and system improvements.
• Develop BRDs, user stories, acceptance criteria, process diagrams, and traceability matrices.
• Support backlog creation, refinement, and prioritization.
• Develop detailed test plans, test cases, and validation scripts.
• Execute functional, integration, regression, and UAT testing.
• Validate changes in controlled environments and ensure traceability to releases.
• Assist in documenting operational workflows and dispatch processes.
• Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation.
• Collaborate with support teams and manage communication with stakeholders.
