BookSmarts Accounting is seeking a Data Specialist / Assistant Bookkeeper for a remote, part-time to full-time role. You will support bookkeeping tasks, enter transactions in QuickBooks Online, and help reconciliations, collaborating with a small, growing team.

The position supports growth in accounting skills, offers a flexible schedule, and 100% remote work from anywhere in the United States, with 20+ hours weekly preferred and 70% overlap with client hours in Mountain Time.

Qualifications

• Basic understanding of financial transactions and statements.
• Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new software.
• Professional written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work independently while maintaining team connections.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive financial information.
• Professional experience in finance or accounting; QuickBooks certifications or college coursework; or a 4-year degree or experience.

Responsibilities

• Download, organize, and securely store client financial statements.
• Enter transactions accurately in QuickBooks Online and other accounting platforms.
• Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
• Assist with basic financial review processes.
• Save documentation according to company protocols.
• Communicate with team members regarding client data.
• Troubleshoot discrepancies and report to accountants.
