Job summary

OpenExchange is seeking a detail-oriented Billing Accountant in a fully remote US role. You will manage the billing cycle, issue invoices, and support AR processes from our Boston-area presence while collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Ideal candidates have GAAP knowledge, strong Excel skills, and experience with NetSuite and Salesforce. This role supports month-end close and revenue recognition activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in billing, accounts receivable, or general accounting.
• Hands-on experience with NetSuite for billing, invoicing, and financial reporting.
• Experience using Salesforce to manage customer/account data and sync with billing workflows.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and issue accurate customer invoices in accordance with contracts, pricing agreements, and company policies.
• Reconcile billing data against contracts, purchase orders, and service records to ensure accuracy.
• Monitor accounts receivable aging and follow up on outstanding balances.
• Process credit memos, adjustments, and refunds as needed.
• Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, disputes, and customer inquiries.
• Maintain accurate billing records and supporting documentation for audit purposes.
• Collaborate with sales, operations, and customer service teams to ensure billing accuracy.
• Assist with month-end close activities, including revenue recognition and account reconciliations.
• Generate billing reports and metrics for management review.
• Identify opportunities to improve billing processes and systems.
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, GAAP, and applicable regulations.
