Remote BI Reporting Engineer

Job summary

Data Society is seeking a BI / Reporting Engineer to build and validate the platform’s semantic layer and dashboard outputs. You will translate specifications into production-ready SQL views, aggregations, and reports, while collaborating with offshore BI Engineers and validating outputs against ERP data.

The role is remote, with occasional Falls Church, VA client-site visits, a full-time W2 position tied to a 9-month contract, with strong extension potential based on performance.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of BI or data engineering experience.
• Proficient in SQL with complex queries and performance tuning.
• Experience building semantic layers and star schemas on Azure SQL/Azure Synapse.
• Experience preparing reporting datasets from operational systems.
• Strong experience with BI tools (Power BI, Tableau, ECharts).
• Familiar with CI/CD and version-controlled SQL in Azure DevOps.
• Experience using AI coding tools to aid query generation and modeling.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including stakeholder UAT.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain Azure SQL views and semantic layer structures.
• Translate requirements into production-ready reports and dashboards.
• Validate outputs against ERP data and reconcile figures.
• Coordinate with offshore BI Engineers for consistent delivery.
• Support UAT with business users and implement post-launch enhancements.
• Work within Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and ensure code quality.
