Job summary

Data Society Group is seeking a BI/Reporting Engineer to build and validate the platform's semantic layer and dashboards. You will translate report specs into production-ready SQL views, work closely with offshore BI engineers, and validate outputs against ERP data before review.

The role is remote, with biweekly commutes to Falls Church, VA. It is a full-time W2 position with benefits, tied to a client contract for an initial 9 months, with potential extension based on performance.

Qualifications

4–7 years of BI or data engineering experience focusing on hands‑on reporting.
Strong SQL skills and complex query writing for large enterprise data.
Experience with semantic layers, data models, and dimensional modeling (star schema).
Experience preparing reporting datasets from operational systems via SQL-based transformations.
Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Apache ECharts) and Azure-native tools.
Proven data validation against source systems and reconciliation.
Comfort with CI/CD and version-controlled SQL schemas (Azure DevOps).
Experience using AI coding tools to assist with queries and modeling.
Strong written and verbal communication for stakeholder/UAT sessions.

Responsibilities

Build and validate the platform's reporting semantic layer and dashboards.
Translate report specifications into production-ready SQL views and aggregations.
Validate outputs against ERP source data before stakeholder review.
Coordinate with offshore BI Engineers to ensure consistent implementation quality.
Support UAT sessions, capture feedback, and drive post-launch dashboard enhancements.
Work within Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and ensure code changes pass reviews.
