Job summary

Speechify in Spokane, WA is hiring a Platform Software Engineer to design, build, and own the backend APIs powering payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and analytics across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and Web.

You will work in a 100% distributed team, shipping scalable services, leveraging TS/Node on GCP with Docker and Kubernetes, and collaborating with product, mobile, and web teams to keep the backend ahead of the product roadmap.

Qualifications

• Proven backend experience in TS/Node (required).
• Direct experience with cloud: GCP, AWS or Azure.
• Demonstrated API design and reliability mindset.
• Experience shipping scalable B2B/backend services.
• Comfort with logs, metrics, and monitoring to ensure correctness.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own platform APIs including payments, subscriptions, auth and analytics.
• Improve performance, cost, and reliability of existing services.
• Ensure correct changes with verifications and tests.
• Automate repetitive tasks to free time for impact.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to align backend with roadmap.
• Contribute to Kubernetes deployments and containerized environments.
