Job summary

Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer, Platform in Syracuse, NY to join the Platform team that owns the backend behind payments, subscriptions, auth, and analytics for 50M+ users across iOS, Android, Mac, Chrome, and Web.

You'll design and own APIs, improve services for speed and reliability, and work with product, mobile, and web teams to keep the architecture ahead of the product roadmap. The role supports a fully distributed workforce with async culture.

Qualifications

• Backend experience with TypeScript/Node.js required.
• Cloud experience with GCP; knowledge of AWS or Azure.
• Ability to hand off work and show ownership.
• Daily workflow with AI agents; describe unattended runs and reviews.
• Focus on logs, DB state, and actual requests for correctness.
• Ability to justify why not to build certain features.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own the APIs behind payments, subscriptions, auth, consumption tracking, and analytics.
• Improve services to be faster, cheaper, and harder to break.
• Ensure changes are correct before shipping and add checks to keep them correct.
• Automate repetitive parts of your role and expand what is repeatable for the team.
• Turn one-off work into repeatable patterns for the team to reuse.
• Design B2B and enterprise integrations on top of Speechify platform.
• Collaborate with product, mobile, and web teams to keep backend ahead of the product roadmap.
