Job summary

Pragmatike is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to design, build, and scale integration-heavy backend services using TypeScript and NestJS. You’ll craft APIs, data models, and distributed system patterns to support high-volume transactions in a remote US-based environment.

You’ll collaborate with product and operations to ensure reliability, observability, and performance while delivering robust backend solutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of professional backend software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and NestJS or similar Node.js frameworks.
• Proven design and build experience for scalable APIs and backend services.
• Understanding of distributed systems and event-driven architectures.
• Experience with observability, monitoring, and production troubleshooting.
• Excellent communication and ability to work autonomously in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using TypeScript and NestJS.
• Architect scalable APIs, integrations, and event-driven systems.
• Build high-throughput workflows processing large transaction volumes.
• Model data, design service architectures, and define integration patterns.
• Develop asynchronous processing with queues, workers, and background jobs.
• Collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to translate requirements.
• Improve platform reliability, performance, and operational efficiency.
• Implement observability, logging, metrics, tracing, and alerts.
• Contribute to API design, developer experience, and internal tooling.
• Participate in architectural discussions and future platform strategy.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity and code quality.
• Own projects from design through deployment and optimization.
