Job summary

Affirm is a remote-first company redefining how people pay over time. You will design, develop, and run backend systems in Python or Kotlin, building scalable services while collaborating with product, design, analytics, and compliance to ensure correct, timely outcomes.

You will own tasks from planning through delivery and participate in on-call rotations. You will contribute to code reviews and help grow the team through across-the-globe interview processes.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of software engineering experience.
• Backend design, development; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Experience with distributed systems; AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes.
• Ability to write clear, well-tested, scalable code.
• Comfortable navigating a large codebase and reviewing others' code.

Responsibilities

• Break down large projects into tasks and deliver in phases.
• Collaborate with product, design & analytics to align constraints and decisions.
• Support operations and on-call efforts; monitor artifacts and metrics.
• Participate in growth activities including interviews.
