Affirm is a remote-first fintech company building honest, flexible credit. We’re seeking a backend software engineer with 1.5+ years of experience to design, develop and deploy reliable systems that power post-transaction workflows.

You’ll use Python or Kotlin, and work with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes, writing well-tested, extensible code. Collaborate with product, design and analytics to ship features at scale and own your growth through clear communication.

Qualifications

• 1.5+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems; proficient in Python or Kotlin.
• Familiar with distributed systems; knowledgeable in AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes.
• Capable of turning business problems into multi-component solutions with well-tested, extensible code.
• Comfortable navigating large code bases and reviewing others’ code.

Responsibilities

• Break down projects into tasks; deliver in phases and collaborate to ensure timely delivery.
• Collaborate with product, design & analytics to articulate constraints and trade-offs.
• Support operations and availability; monitor metrics and participate in on-call efforts.
• Contribute to team growth through involvement in interview processes.
