Job summary

BJAK is seeking backend engineers to build the core systems behind its AI Neobank app. You will design and implement APIs and workflows that scale across markets, partners and millions of users. The role is remote and based in Portugal, with English as the working language across global teams.

You’ll collaborate with product, frontend, mobile and AI groups to deliver reliable features quickly. Ideal candidates have strong production backend experience, security focus, and comfort with fintech

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering experience in production systems.
• Good understanding of APIs, databases, authentication, authorization, queues, jobs and events.
• Experience building services used by real customers or internal operations at meaningful scale.
• Strong debugging, reliability, security and data quality mindset.
• Able to make practical trade-offs between speed, correctness, scalability and maintainability.

Responsibilities

• Build backend services and APIs for onboarding, accounts, payments, cards, and transfers.
• Design reliable systems that support real customer transactions and workflows.
• Integrate with internal systems, financial partners, payment providers, AI services and third-party platforms.
• Own backend reliability across security, latency, observability, data integrity and incident handling.
• Work with product, frontend, mobile and AI teams to launch features quickly and safely.
