Job summary

Resend is building the modern email sending platform for developers. We are a fully remote team spanning the Americas and Europe, with travel for team off-sites and conferences. You will join a security-focused, low-ego group that ships reliably and observably.

The role centers on backend engineering for high-volume delivery, with Typescript and Golang usage, AWS infrastructure, and Postgres storage. Expect ownership, autonomy, and a strong emphasis on safety and performance.

Qualifications

• Strong backend engineering experience.
• Experience with high-volume delivery systems or messaging infrastructure.
• Familiarity with SMTP, MTAs, DNS, and mailbox-provider behavior.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Go.
• Strong focus on reliability and observability.

Responsibilities

• Build and operate email transport infrastructure.
• Work on SMTP delivery, MTA systems, routing, retries, backoff strategies, and delivery controls.
• Design throttling systems at domain/provider/IP levels.
• Build infrastructure for IP pools, warmup, and reputation-aware routing.
• Improve delivery outcome classification (bounces, deferrals, failures).
• Create tools to debug delivery issues by customer, domain, route, IP, and event.
• Collaborate on safety controls and operational excellence.
• Support Trust & Safety and Core Sending with network protections.
• Participate in incident response and be on-call for critical services.
