Job summary

Virtasant is seeking a hands-on backend-focused software engineer to join a fully remote Development Team. You will build features across Agentic AI and backend services, with occasional frontend input when needed.

The role requires independence, strong coding standards, and collaboration with peers across the team. You will work primarily in Python for AI/Agent work and Java for integration with the client’s core platform, ensuring performance and data quality.

Qualifications

• Backend-heavy software development with Java and Python.
• Daily use of AI coding assistants in the workflow.
• Cloud platforms experience, especially GCP.
• Experience with Microservices and distributed systems.
• Ability to work independently on well-defined problems.
• Experience building AI-driven apps with LLMs and LangChain/ADK.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support high‑quality code.
• Build MCP servers with tool design, auth/OAuth, multi‑tenant security.
• Create LLM agents with tool calling and multi‑agent orchestration.
• Test agent behavior and observability in production.
• Contribute to architecture discussions on scaling and reliability.
• Develop backend services in Python and Java with performance focus.
• Use AI coding tools daily to improve productivity and code quality.
• Participate in code reviews and address technical debt.
• Break down tasks into manageable pieces and deliver reliably.
• Collaborate with Product and QA to meet high quality standards.
