Job summary

Virtasant is seeking a fully remote backend developer with strong Java and Python experience and a focus on AI-powered agentic features. You will build and maintain backend services, MCP servers, and LLM agent integrations, working closely with a distributed Development Team to ship high-quality software.

You will contribute to architecture discussions, improve tooling, and ensure reliability and performance at scale, while leveraging modern AI coding assistants to boost productivity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of backend-heavy software development with Java and Python
• Experience working with Agentic AI and LLMs
• Hands-on experience with AI coding assistants (Cursor, Claude Code, GitHub Copilot)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (GCP) and distributed systems
• Experience with microservices
• Strong testing discipline and code quality focus

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support high-quality code
• Build MCP servers: tool design, auth/OAuth, multi-tenant security
• Develop LLM agents with tool calling and multi-agent orchestration
• Ensure observability, monitoring, and reliability in production
• Contribute to architecture decisions and scalability discussions
• Work with Python and Java across backend services
• Engage in code reviews and uphold coding standards
• Collaborate with Product and QA to refine requirements
• Share learnings and patterns with teammates
