Syms Strategic Group, LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer) to lead cloud-native data architecture modernization for healthcare data. Remote work within the U.S.

requires strong AWS experience and the ability to design scalable data pipelines, storage and reporting layers for business stakeholders. You will migrate XML object store data to AWS services, collaborate with .NET engineers, and implement CI/CD and IaC practices.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software or data engineering experience with a strong AWS focus.
• Proven experience migrating cloud data platforms in enterprise/healthcare environments.
• Experience selecting AWS data services to meet reporting and query needs.
• Experience delivering analytics solutions for non-technical users.
• Hands-on AWS experience across S3, Athena, Glue, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch, Lambda, IAM, CloudWatch.

Responsibilities

• Lead modernization of the healthcare data platform on AWS.
• Design and migrate from MSSQL XML object stores to cloud-native AWS data architecture.
• Evaluate AWS data strategies and storage architectures (S3+Athena, Aurora, DynamoDB, Redshift, OpenSearch).
• Build reporting/query layers for business users using familiar tooling.
• Architect data migration paths for XML object stores; define storage formats and partitioning.
• Maintain AWS data catalogs, schemas, and metadata for discoverability.
• Collaborate with back-end developers to ensure clean data flow from EDI pipelines.
• Implement CI/CD for data infrastructure using CodePipeline/CodeBuild/CodeDeploy.
• Apply IaC with CDK/CloudFormation/Terraform; document architecture decisions.
