Job summary

Syms Strategic Group (SSG) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer (AWS Data Engineer) to lead the next phase of healthcare data platform modernization in a remote role. You will architect AWS-native data storage and query capabilities, build a scalable reporting layer, and guide migration of XML data from MSSQL into the AWS stack.

You will collaborate with stakeholders and a back-end C#/.NET team to ensure data flow from EDI pipelines, while implementing IaC and CI/CD practices using AWS tools.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in software or data engineering with a strong AWS focus.
• Experience migrating cloud data platforms in production environments.
• Strong SQL and data modeling for relational queries.
• Experience with XML-heavy data stores and XML processing at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead healthcare data platform modernization in the AWS cloud.
• Architect AWS-native data storage and query architecture options.
• Design reporting layers for SQL-based access by business users.
• Migrate XML object store data from MSSQL to the AWS platform.
• Build and maintain AWS data catalog, schemas, and metadata.
• Optimize query performance and cost across AWS services.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to translate reporting needs into data models.
• Work with CI/CD pipelines using AWS tooling and IaC practices.
