Job summary

Nationwide seeks an executive leader for Middle Market Property Underwriting to drive strategic direction, profitability, and portfolio performance across key lines such as Auto, General Liability, Workers’ Compensation, Umbrella, Property and Inland Marine.

The role supervises a team of technical experts, partners with actuarial and product leaders, and steers pricing capabilities to reflect market dynamics. Remote work within the U.S. is supported.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of Middle Market underwriting experience with extensive technical understanding of lines of business.
• At least 5 years of management experience leading a team of experts.
• Strong knowledge of property & casualty products, insurance operations, and pricing concepts.

Responsibilities

• Develop and present strategies for growth and profitability of assigned lines of business.
• Collaborate with Loss Control and Claims to refine underwriting and service offerings.
• Analyze market trends and pricing data to drive portfolio performance.
• Oversee design and development of line-specific enhancements to meet client needs.
• Lead and mentor a high-performing technical underwriting team.
