Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an AVP for P&C Actuarial Modeling to lead pricing analytics, guide data architecture, and drive strategic initiatives across lines. You will oversee actuarial models and pricing tools and collaborate with Strategic Pricing and Enterprise Analytics.

The role requires 10+ years in pricing/actuarial work, 5+ years in management, FCAS preferred, and strong communication for executive reporting. Remote within the U.S.; travel to headquarters as needed.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in actuarial science, business, finance, mathematics, economics, or related field with strong quantitative orientation.
• FCAS designation preferred.
• Typically, ten or more years related experience (pricing, actuarial, product). Five years prior management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide actuarial & technical expertise and thought leadership to drive outcomes across data marts, data architecture, rating engines, class plan execution & monitoring.
• Partner with Strategic Pricing, Enterprise Analytics, Data & Technology and outside consultants to deliver on strategic initiatives across multiple business lines.
• Oversee the development and maintenance of actuarial models and pricing tools; ensure robust data analysis to support pricing decisions and risk assessments.
• Develop and maintain a strategic roadmap for PL pricing, in partnership with PL Finance/Pricing, Advanced Analytics and P&C Actuarial.
• Lead a team focused on evolving state tuning and decisioning with Field Product Management.
• Stay informed about changes in insurance regulations and adjust pricing strategies accordingly.
• Lead special projects and ad hoc initiatives as needed.
• Oversee associate management including performance management, salary planning and administration, training and development, workflow and organization planning, day-to-day management, hiring and placement, and disciplinary actions for direct and possibly indirect reports.
