Job summary

Synchrony is seeking an AVP, Principal Software Engineer to lead architecture and hands-on design for consumer banking applications. You will shape solution and event-driven architectures, mentor teams, and ensure on-time delivery of complex features.

The role is remote with occasional in-person engagement at hubs; travel is flexible. You will drive CI/CD with Jenkins/Bitbucket/uDeploy, collaborate across agile teams, and set security standards.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience or 10 years with a high school diploma
• Minimum 6 years of application development experience
• Spring Boot and Spring Cloud development background
• Strong problem solving and communication skills
• Ability to travel for business as required

Responsibilities

• Influence many agile development teams through all phases of the Agile development life cycle through SAFe
• Architect applications across the full stack, experience in PCF, Cloud Native Application Architecture, Microservices ecosystem, J2EE, Spring Java, and RESTful APIs
• Drive a CI/CD strategy using Jenkins, Bitbucket, and uDeploy stack
• Mentor and influence all levels of the team; influence up and down the chain of command
• Ensure compliance with architecture, security and technology standards set by Synchrony
• Participate in Agile scrums with cross-functional teams
• Lead Agile sprints as the technical expert, including sprint planning and reviews
• Provide 24x7 on-call support periodically throughout the year
• Identify ways to increase efficiency and improve system performance
• Work with third party vendors to develop software and/or integrate their software into Synchrony products
