Job summary

Crown Innovations is seeking an experienced Aviation Software Verification & Test Engineer to support development, verification, and certification of advanced navigation systems. You will perform requirements-based verification, develop test cases, and execute tests across software and hardware interfaces for safety-critical avionics.

The role demands hands-on SCADE, strong Java development, and familiarity with FAA certification processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum eight years of professional software development, software verification, software testing, or related engineering experience.
• Minimum five years of Java development experience.
• Direct experience supporting DO-178C software development, verification, testing, or certification activities.
• Demonstrated experience developing and executing requirements-based software test cases and procedures.
• Experience performing functional, system, integration, or performance testing of avionics systems.
• Experience testing software in conjunction with avionics hardware.
• Experience supporting avionics certification and testing activities.
• Experience with navigation avionics, aircraft navigation systems, inertial navigation systems, or related aviation systems.
• Experience with FAA certification activities, aircraft safety analysis, or related aviation processes.
• Ability to translate requirements into executable verification activities.
• Attention to detail and commitment to software quality.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Experience with IBM DOORS or comparable tools.
• Experience with structural coverage tools (VectorCAST, LDRA).
• Experience with Python, C, C++, or embedded avionics verification.
• Familiarity with DO-254, ARP4754A, ARP4761 or related standards.

Responsibilities

• Develop, review, and execute software and system test cases, test scripts, and procedures.
• Perform requirements-based verification of safety critical avionics software.
• Conduct functional, system, integration, and performance testing.
• Verify software behavior against requirements and analyze results.
• Document anomalies and perform regression testing after changes.
• Support verification activities throughout the avionics development lifecycle.
• Perform software testing on avionics hardware and integrated environments.
• Troubleshoot software, hardware, interface, and integration issues.
• Ensure traceability between system and software requirements and test results.
• Support verification evidence for avionics certification.
• Collaborate across software, systems, hardware, and test teams.
• Maintain high-quality verification artifacts for audits and reviews.
