Job summary

Raute is seeking an Automation Service Engineer to lead installation, commissioning, and optimization of automation equipment across North America. You will program PLC/HMI code, test system performance, and train operators and maintenance staff.

This field-based role requires traveling to customer sites, strong PLC/HMI knowledge, and Beckhoff/Allen-Bradley experience. Applicants should have an electrical engineering background with 4+ years in industrial settings, and a willingness to travel

Qualifications

Degree in electrical engineering or equivalent trade experience in control systems and automation software.
Strong PLC and HMI understanding, including Rockwell/Allen-Bradley and Beckhoff ecosystems.
Minimum 4 years in an industrial equipment environment, preferably wood processing machinery.
Ability to diagnose and repair complex system issues using hands-on approach.

Responsibilities

Lead installation, start-up, commissioning, and optimization of automation equipment.
Program and modify PLC/HMI code in collaboration with project engineers.
Perform system performance testing and diagnostics to identify improvements.
Provide feedback to improve process and controls design for ongoing optimization.
Deliver operator and maintenance training for safe, efficient operation.
Support customer needs with cross-functional teams and resolve issues.
