Placements24 is seeking an Automation Engineer to join a fully remote team and lead automation projects across manufacturing environments.

You will design, develop, and deploy PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems, integrate robotics, and ensure reliable data communication. This role requires collaboration with on-site teams and vendors from a home office, delivering robust, scalable solutions and ongoing improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering/computing field.
• 6+ years in industrial automation with PLC/HMI and robotics focus.
• Proficient in multiple PLC languages and automation software.
• Knowledge of networking protocols (Ethernet/IP, Profibus, Modbus).

Responsibilities

• Design, program, and implement PLC, HMI, and SCADA systems.
• Develop and integrate robotic systems for manufacturing.
• Configure industrial networks and ensure data flow.
• Troubleshoot issues remotely, aiming to minimize downtime.
• Collaborate with mechanical/electrical engineers and production staff.
• Test, validate, and commission automated systems to spec.
• Create technical docs including code and schematics.
• Stay current with automation technologies and trends.
• Drive continuous improvement of processes and systems.
• Provide remote support and training to site personnel.
