Job summary

Auto-Owners Insurance in Georgia is seeking a motivated claims trainee to join the team. You will support entry-level insurance claims under supervision, handling investigation, evaluation, and resolution through the life cycle of a claim.

The role includes in-person training with subsequent merit-based work-from-home flexibility, plus extensive development in claim handling and customer service for agents, insureds, and other parties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or direct equivalent experience in property/casualty claims.
• Ability to organize data, multi-task, and make decisions independently.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to write reports and compose correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Maintain confidentiality and data security.
• Ability to deal with a diverse group of individuals.
• Mathematical skills including geometry and basic finance concepts.
• Must have a valid driver's license and maintain driving record per underwriting guidelines.
• Commit to ongoing training and licensure as required.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and settle entry-level insurance claims.
• Study policies to develop foundational knowledge of products.
• Learn and comply with claim handling procedures.
• Develop basic negotiation and settlement skills.
• Serve the needs of agents, insureds, and others.
• Meet with claimants, legal counsel, and third-parties.
• Develop skills in estimating and use of computer-based loss adjustment programs.
• Study, obtain, and maintain an adjuster's license if required.
