Auto-Owners Insurance is seeking a motivated claims trainee to join our team. This entry-level role supports investigation, evaluation and resolution of claims under supervision. After in-person training, you may have the flexibility of work-from-home time as defined by leadership.

The position emphasizes learning policies, claim procedures and specialized skills, with opportunities for licensing and career growth within a supportive environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or direct equivalent experience with property/casualty claims handling.
• Ability to organize data, multi-task and make decisions independently.
• Above average communication skills (written and verbal).
• Ability to write reports and correspondence.
• Ability to resolve complex issues.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and data security.

Responsibilities

• Investigate, evaluate, and settle entry-level insurance claims.
• Study policies, endorsements, and forms to develop foundational knowledge.
• Learn and comply with claim handling procedures.
• Develop claim negotiation and settlement skills.
• Serve agents, insureds, and others effectively.
• Meet with claimants, legal counsel, and third-parties.
• Develop skills including estimating and use of designated software.
• Study and maintain an adjuster’s license if required.
