Job summary

Major, Lindsey & Africa seeks an experienced Associate General Counsel for a remote role with a focus on ecommerce. This temp-to-perm position requires a business-minded generalist who can manage a broad range of matters and scale the legal function.

Key duties include drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, handling privacy issues, and overseeing litigation with outside counsel. Strong in-house and ecommerce experience are essential.

Qualifications

• JD with active license in good standing.
• 8+ years of relevant legal experience.
• In-house experience with a lean legal team.
• Experience supporting an ecommerce or digitally native consumer products business.
• Strong experience in commercial contracting and advising business partners.
• Working knowledge of data privacy issues in ecommerce.
• Experience managing litigation and outside counsel oversight.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI and legal technology tools.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on vendor, technology, services, marketing/influencer, and ecommerce contracts.
• Partner with General Counsel and manage matters with minimal oversight.
• Oversee pre-litigation and litigation matters and manage outside counsel and budgets.
• Advise on privacy, marketing, and digital commerce matters.
• Identify opportunities to insource work and reduce external spend.
