Job summary

Merck is seeking an Associate Director, Engineering within Biologics External Manufacturing Technology. Based in the US west coast, you will lead technical transfers to External Partner sites and manage complex cross-functional programs to enable commercial supply.

You will partner with multiple technical functions to ensure successful transfers, risk management, and continuous process improvement for biologics across the external network.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or applicable Science is required.
• Eight or more years in Drug Substance/Drug Product biologics manufacturing, engineering or support.
• Experience leading technical transfers and cross-functional teams is essential.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for tech transfer to External Partners for Biologics ExM.
• Oversee complex partnerships, ensuring on-time, within-budget delivery.
• Guide external partner processes, verify standards, and ensure sound deliverables.
• Collaborate with Procurement, External Manufacturing, QA, Regulatory to evaluate partners.
• Lead risk assessments, develop mitigation plans, and drive continuous improvement.
• Develop validation strategies for new and existing products and support manufacturing.
• Ensure partner readiness for inspections and new product introductions.
