Job summary

SEH is seeking an Assistant Controller to lead all accounting operations, drive timely closes, and partner with executive leadership on financial strategy. This remote role offers exposure to audit processes, treasury management, and process improvements while supporting a growing, employee-owned engineering firm.

Base compensation is highlighted between $110,000 and $140,000, with a benefits package and clear paths for development within a culture where every employee-owner has a voice.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting is required.
• CPA certification (Active or Inactive) is preferred.
• Experience as Accounting Manager, Assistant Controller or Controller.
• Experience with annual financial statement audits.
• Broad end-to-end accounting operations experience including AP, AR, treasury, audits, close, reporting, and contract review.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal controls.
• Ability to manage and develop accounting teams.
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting and compliance.
• Advise leadership on regulatory changes and implementation strategies.
• Maintain relationships with external auditors to support audits and controls.
• Manage treasury activities including cash positioning, forecasting, and bank relations.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost management initiatives.
• Develop and mentor accounting staff and collaborate with the Controller on strategy.
