Job summary

SEH, a nationwide engineering and environmental firm, seeks an Assistant Controller to lead the accounting operations, support the annual audit, and partner with leadership on financial strategy. The role offers remote work from across most US states and opportunities for professional growth.

Requirements include a CPA, 15–20 years in accounting, and experience with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel, including Microsoft Dynamics 365.

Qualifications

• Broad, hands-on expertise across end-to-end accounting operations, including AP, AR, treasury, audits, close processes, financial reporting, and contract review.
• 15–20 years of relevant accounting experience.
• CPA, Active or Inactive
• Experience being part of an annual financial statement audit
• Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Excel; Microsoft Dynamics 365 experience
• Proven ability to manage and develop accounting teams

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting
• Advise leadership on impacts of emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes
• Manage external auditors to support audits, controls, and improvements
• Oversee treasury activities including daily cash positioning, forecasting, banking relationships, and covenants
• Ensure GAAP compliance and internal controls
• Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and cost management with operations leadership
• Lead and mentor accounting staff
• Collaborate with Controller on financial strategy and process improvements
