Ladder seeks an Applications Security Engineer to own vulnerability management within a large JVM/Clojure-based system. You will partner with development teams, drive shift-left security, monitor cloud posture, and respond to incidents while assisting audits.

The role is remote across 23 states (including AZ) with no OPT/H1 sponsorship. Requires 4+ years in security or software and cloud security experience; Security+ or CISSP preferred. Ladder offers strong benefits and equity.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of software engineering and/or cybersecurity experience.
• Hands-on in the JVM environment with functional code familiarity.
• Experience securing modern cloud infrastructures and incident response.
• Ability to operate autonomously in dynamic environments and assess risk.
• Baseline certifications such as CompTIA Security+; CISSP preferred.

Responsibilities

• Champion application security vulnerability management with dev teams.
• Configure, monitor, and improve cloud security posture and detect threats.
• Conduct security reviews and risk assessments on internal and third-party systems.
• Maintain workspace security, IAM, device compliance, and secure productivity tools.
• Mentor engineers on secure coding practices and risk-based decisions.
